Idyllic half-timbered town in the middle of the Harz mountain landscape. The village was founded at the beginning of the 14th century as a forest village. By 1450, Bad Grund had developed into a thriving mountain and metallurgical city, which benefited significantly from the rich ore deposits. When the ore stocks ran out at the end of the 19th century, the former mining town became a health resort.
Today you will find numerous cafes, restaurants and inns for a cozy retreat. Hikers on the Harzer Försterstieg can also choose between different hotels and guest houses for their overnight stay.

A very nice little town in the Harz. Starting point for hikes to the world forest, to the stalactite cave and Albert tower u.v.m ...

Bad Grund is located in a romantic open valley, surrounded by deciduous and coniferous trees. It is the oldest of the Upper Harz mountain towns and is always worth a visit. You can start some very beautiful hiking tours from here.
