The ascent to the Kaiser - Wilhelm - Stein begins at the "Grenzgängerweg" car park. The narrow path is somewhat hidden behind the sign "Landkreis Südwestpfalz Deutschland" and is quite steep at first. It runs right next to the border, which is also documented by an old boundary stone from 1826.
After about 3 km, some of which are quite steep uphill, you reach the Kaiser - Wilhelm - Stein refuge and again the opportunity to cross the border into France.
The Kaiser - Wilhelm - Stein is very close to the hut and is an impressive natural monument.
