Tips

  • Thorsten

Here you make a real border experience - the Schlossberg has two peaks - one on the German and one on the French side. The border runs over the saddle in between. And right at the border there is still a refuge, the refuge Kaiser-Wilhelm-Stein. What is your snack time? Rather red wine and baguette or at least Saumagen and beer? ;)

  • The border between Germany and France.
You only see a landmark with the letters and the number of landmarks.
Practically boundless you can go through the circular walk of the castle and rock path here.

  • As Thorsten already noted, not only does the question of baguette and red wine or saumagen and beer arise, but also which of the stones is the Kaiser Wilhelm Stein? I think it's the big one. 😉

  • Here the hiking trail crosses the green border to France. Old boundary stones show the course of the border.

  • The refuge Kaiser-Wilhelm-Stein is massively built and ideal for a rest even in bad weather.
It is located on the border Germany - France.
Here clearly a green border ...

  • If you do not know, you will notice the signs of the trails at best.
The world should be so limitless! Whether baguette or wake. ;-)

  • In the past, not so long ago, it was time to dig out the francs for a stop at the Gimpelhof

  • Nice that this limit has long been irrelevant

  • The "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Stein" "marks" the border between Germany and France:
    - in Wasgau / Vasgovie
    - between the "Wegelnburg" (Germany) and the "Ruine Hohenburg" (France)
    - Refuge in the immediate vicinity

  • Too bad, this is exactly where I had to go back. I would have loved to walk on the Sonnenweg to Hohenburg.
