The Franconian Dunes Trail leads through a lesser-known but unique landscape shaped by sand in the south of the district of Nürnberger Land. This landscape was formed during the last two ice ages and is now almost entirely forested. The hiking trail runs in parts through the Franconian sand axis and leads over sand dunes, through rock and river landscapes.
