As part of a commemoration event, friends, colleagues and companions in the presence of his family unveiled the memorial stone to Dr. Wolfgang Gerber, who died suddenly on August 18, 2021 on the Rochlitzer Berg at the age of only 67. Based on the stories about the GeoRanger training, his lecture series in the Geoportal Porphyrhaus, the "birth" of the children's piece of music "The Super Volcano" and the teaching material he created for educators, it became clear once again how much commitment Dr. Wolfgang Gerber contributed to the development of the Geopark Porphyrland as a member of the advisory board and the associations of Saxon and German school geographers and what large gaps he left behind in his many places of activity. The memorial stone is in visual relation to the Geoportal Porphyrhaus and not far from the Gleisbergbruch, his favorite places in the Geopark.
