"Lively and authentic - that's Obertsrot. First mentioned in 1377 as Oberzurode, the district lies at the foot of Eberstein Castle. Today, around 1,100 residents live in the historic center and in the settlement on the right bank of the Murg.

Obertsrot impresses with an active club life, which does not only take place in the church (St. Erhard chapel) and the swimming pool. Culture, sports and a lot of voluntary commitment by the people of Obertsrot characterize the community in the district. The Mayr-Melnhof paper mill, a specialist in cardboard based on recycled paper and an important employer for the town and region, is also influential. After their incorporation, Obertsrot and Hilpertsau retained their own local constitution. A local council and the mayor represent the interests of the sub-communities in the local council.
