The Wat Lamai is the main temple of the place of the same name Lamai and is located directly on the ring road on which you drive through the place (before a sharp bend). In addition to the temple buildings and many Buddhist statues, there is also a cultural hall on the site, in which funerals and weddings of the locals take place.Furthermore, the Wat Lamai houses a folklore museum, where you can learn something about the past of Koh Samui. The entrance to the museum is guarded by two large “yaks”, so-called warriors. Inside you will find artefacts from different eras of the island that are up to 2,000 years old.
