The Kemnader lake is located between Bochum, Hattingen and Witten. He is the youngest of six Ruhr reservoirs. The reservoir was created by the Ruhrverband and completed in 1979. The content is about 3 million cubic meters of water at a mean height of 2.4 meters. The lake is surrounded by hiking and biking trails. The circular route around the reservoir is about 8 kilometers long.
