Strandby has the busiest fishing port on the entire Kattegat coast. There is always a lot to see here when the trawlers arrive fully laden with the famous Frederikshavn plaice, which are sold directly at the harbor or in the many small fish shops. At the harbor you also have the opportunity to take part in a real fish auction, which takes place every morning at seven o'clock. Get carried away as the auctioneer auctions off large cases of freshly caught fish with blazing speed and precision. The port is always buzzing with activity and atmosphere.

The old townThe old town of Strandby is worth a visit. The first urban settlements appeared in Strandby in the 18th century. The place used to be characterized by so-called "beach farms", as they are called up to Skagen. The streets leading to the harbor and the surrounding area are Strandby's oldest part of town. A majority of the houses here were built in the early 20th century.
