To the north of the well-known ducal castle in Zweibrücken, the castle garden, which is around three hectares in size today, borders. The ten-hectare garden was once adorned with a hermitage, a large pond with an island and a garden pavilion, among other things. Nevertheless, the park was rather modest compared to other palace gardens of the time. This was created in the course of the palace construction around 1722. During the Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815) after the French Revolution, the garden was destroyed, cut down and then repurposed. After the Second World War (1939-1945) the avenues were reforested.

The modern castle garden covers an area of around three hectares.

The large tree-lined avenues on both sides of the Schwarzbach were replanted after total loss due to a plant disease between 1937 and 1938 and are still a reminder of the glorious days of the palace garden. Originally there was a four-row avenue of elms along the Schwarzbach, which was laid out by the court gardener Petri in 1759. The end of the avenue is in the rose garden, which today continues the tradition of the former garden art.

Access to the park is only possible during events. However, the fence surrounding the castle garden is low enough to have a look over it.
