Run relaxed around the ponds and switch off. Since the Landesgartenschau it is really great here.

The Tirschenreuth city ponds are among the earliest large ponds in Europe. For almost 600 years, from 1217 to 1807, Tirschenreuth was an island town surrounded by two large ponds. As early as 1200, the Counts of Ortenburg built the Upper City Pond with an area of 265 acres (90 hectares). The Ortenburgers were an important East Bavarian noble family and until around 1220 were owners of the “praedium Tursinrut”, a huge estate around Tirschenreuth.
The Waldsassen monastery built the Lower City Pond with an area of 285 days (97 hectares) between 1217 and 1219.

The pond round trail around the upper and lower city pond leads along very well-kept flower and garden areas.
