Primary school building, Murten
The primary school building was built by the local architect Johann Jakob Weibel in the years 1836-1839 as a proud witness of the cosmopolitan and freedom-loving spirit of that time.
It was the first public building in Switzerland in the Munich Neo-Renaissance style - inspired by the Italian Renaissance - and was built from stones demolished from the circular wall. The school building has separate entrances for girls, boys and teachers.
