The Untere Riezler Alpe can be reached via a steep climb over the Schwand plot above Riezlern. A hiking trail goes up there in the forest, which leads further over the Warmatsgund in the direction of the Fellhorn or over the Gehren and the ridge behind it to the Kanzelwandbahn.

The Riezler Alpe had a high alp, which was abandoned from the 1950s, or the alp buildings were removed after damage.

There was a spring pasture which was below the Untere Riezler Alpe. Namely at the Schwand, or 100 m above at the so-called Windschwand. There was a larger alpine hut there until the late 1970s.

The alpine area of the Untere Riezler Alpe was then abandoned and the slopes towards the village in particular were partially reforested to counteract the constant danger of avalanches.

On September 13, 1979, lightning killed 8 sheep on the Riezler Alpe.
