The former silo is considered one of Eckernfördes landmarks.
The conversion of the building as a health center as well as the extension to a cinema center was planned at times. In 2008, a restaurant was set up on the ground floor of the round silo. During reconstruction, a port crane belonging to the building was demolished.

It has been listed as a memorial since 1972 and since 1986 it is no longer used as a granary. The round silo from the 1930s is a landmark of the Baltic Sea town of Eckernförde.
