The Duisburg Ruhr lock at the Duisburg Ruhr weir is the last lock on the Ruhr before it flows into the Rhine at waterway kilometer 2.5.
Parallel to it is the Meiderich lock on the Rhine-Herne Canal (abbreviation RHK). Both locks are single-stage and together handle traffic from the RHK, the Ruhr and the Ruhr shipping canal (abbreviation RSK) in and out of the Rhine. This works because a few hundred meters upstream behind the two locks, the RHK and the Ruhr (or the RSK) are connected without a barrage.
