The church stands on the main square of the village, at the foot of the slope that leads to the Collegiate Church. Its architecture has a clear Renaissance imprint which is completely exceptional for the Lombard architectural panorama of the time. It was designed around 1430: it clearly refers to the square layout with domed roof of Brunelleschi's contemporary Florentine examples. Even the decorative solutions with gray stone profiles on white plaster are typically Brunelleschi.
