The Saint-Louis/Arzviller ship lift (German actually ship lift St. Ludwig/Arzweiler, French plan incliné de Saint-Louis/Arzviller) is part of the Rhine-Marne Canal. Operating since 1969, it replaces 17 former locks between Saint-Louis and Arzviller in Lorraine and the Zorn Valley, with a vertical drop of 44.55 m.

The short detour from the Rhein-Marne-Weg is worthwhile to marvel at the technical marvel. There is not so much going on here at lunchtime, but you can watch the operation well in the morning or in the late afternoon.
