The St. Dionysius Church of Opoeteren, dedicated to Dionysius of Paris, took its current neo-Gothic form in 1905.
The foundations of the original 9th-century building were uncovered in September 1973. The baptistery and the tower in marl on a bluestone base were added in 1571. In 1905 the tower was raised by 6 m during the renovation.
The church bells were removed from the tower by the German occupiers on June 16, 1944, smashed and taken away. They were replaced in 1954.

Hiking
Unfortunately we could only admire the church from the outside.
