Russborough House is an 18th-century manor house with 210 meters of Ireland's longest façade. Richard Cassels, born in Kassel in 1690, is considered one of the most important architects of Irish "Palladianism" in the 18th century.

The building, open to the public today, was built for the first Earl of Milltown. Today's interior design as well as the art collection presented there come mainly from the last occupants, Sir Alfred Lane Beit and Lady Clementine Beit. Already in 1978, the Beits opened the house for sightseeing. Sir Alfred Lane Beit died in 1994 at the age of 91 years. Since the death of Lady Clementine Beit in 2005, the Alfred Beit Foundation is responsible for Russborough House.
