Russborough House is an 18th-century mansion house with the longest facade in Ireland, measuring 210 meters. Richard Cassels, born in Kassel in 1690, is considered one of the most important architects of Irish Palladianism in the 18th century.

The building, now open to the public, was built for the first Earl of Milltown. The current interior furnishings and the art collection on display there are primarily the work of the last residents, Sir Alfred Lane Beit and Lady Clementine Beit. The Beits opened the house to the public in 1978. Sir Alfred Lane Beit died in 1994 at the age of 91. Since the death of Lady Clementine Beit in 2005, the Alfred Beit Foundation has been responsible for Russborough House.
