The war memorial at the church in Hollebeke commemorates the military and civilian victims of the two world wars and the French fallen in the First World War.

Originally a Romanesque church stood here. In the 14th century a cruciform church was built here with a wooden crossing tower and a choir with a flat closure. During the religious disputes, the transept was destroyed and then rebuilt on the Romanesque foundations. In 1877 the ship was enlarged to a design by Arthur Croquison.

During the First World War, the church was destroyed and rebuilt in 1922, to a design by Maurice Dujardin.

The Pilgrimage of the three Marys took place for the first time around 1300. It concerned the pilgrimage places Hollebeke, Dadizele and Linselles.

According to a legend, a statue of Mary was found in the woods of Hollebeke, which was placed in a chapel and carried through the village on September 8 (Birth of the Virgin). The statue disappeared during the religious wars (end of the 16th century). In 1630 a new chapel was put into use, in which a new statue was placed.

In 1854, the Ranchicourt family, lords of the manor in Hollebeke, donated a throne for the statue.

The chapel, as well as the church and the statue, were destroyed during the First World War. A new statue of the Virgin Mary was placed in the rebuilt church of 1922, but it had no art value, and devotion was waning. About 1940 a new statue was made which was a copy of the lost miracle statue. In 1956 the statue was officially crowned with a precious gold crown. Since then, there is another annual novena around September 8.
