The airport is partly used by the Aero Club of Częstochowa. It has a concrete runway 08/26, 2000 m long and 60 m wide, taxiways, hangars, warehouses, fuel base, air traffic control tower, aeroclub building with a cafe and a large grass area with a camping site.
In 1940, the Luftwaffe command decided to implement its military airport network development program. The consequence of this was the construction of two airports in Poland, facilities located a short distance from the landing sites used so far. These were units in Rudniki, north of Częstochowa, and in Zendki.
The Luftkriegschule IX, a unit operating from November 1942 to July 1944, was established in Rudniki. Then the Segelfliegerschule der Luftwaffe Tschenstochau was created. It was there that the gliding training was conducted. This training took place behind the sailplane winch or in the tow. However, it was a small unit - much smaller compared to the airport in Zendek.
