"An artistically and technically magnificent ensemble of mosaics, stained glass, marble and stucco, an occidental burial site with Byzantine, Romanesque and Gothic elements - the Lantz Chapel, built in 1879, bears eloquent testimony to the historicism that prevailed in the second half of the 19th century .

A historical and architectural gem, an almost undiscovered treasure that is unknown to the majority of Düsseldorf residents. The chapel is surrounded by an idyllic park, which was originally laid out in the 19th century, with avenues, sight lines, a roundabout and curved paths that still invite you to take relaxing walks today.

When Mathilde Lantz, a member of the then wealthy Lohaus Lantz family, died in 1879 at the age of just 44, the family, who lived just a stone's throw away in the manor house (built in 1805/6), had the chapel built in her memory. But the chapel was not only available to the Lantz family for prayer and remembrance. The people of Lohaus also came to worship here for 20 years, until the neo-Romanesque church “St. "Assumption of the Virgin Mary" was built. Also with the support of the Lantz family. Today the church and chapel belong to the Catholic parish "Holy Family", which is also responsible for the administration of the Lantz Chapel."
