The gravel road through the Deelerwoud has become an informal highlight for gravel cyclists who visit the southern Veluwe. Two striking dead trees in the middle of the open prairie on either side of the path have been called the National Gravel Monument. There are more dead trees at the edge of the forest.
You wonder why all these trees died. Perhaps the farmer used herbicide or spread too much liquid manure? Or a fire?
