In Saxony in 1820 an ordinance was issued according to which wooden signposts were to be erected at all "crossroads and crossroads". However, due to its longer durability, numerous signposts were made of stone. These road pillars had their official function until around 1930. In the current district, there are still around 290 of these small traffic-historical monuments. Such an accumulation is unique in Germany.
