The "De Tuut" pumping station in Appeltern is an industrial monument from 1918. It is the only still functioning steam-powered pumping station in the Gelderland region. It was an important tool in the fight against the water. A fight that goes back to the Middle Ages and was officially started in 1321 by Count Rainald von Geldern.
