The Great Mill (Wielki Młyn) was built in 1350 by German knights. With its six-story gabled roof, it was one of the largest in Europe; no fewer than 18 mill wheels ground the grain. Today the building houses an amber museum.

The Great Mill (Wielki Młyn) is located on the Radaune Island, around which the canal branches. Built in the mid-14th century, it was long considered the largest mill in Europe, making it one of the most important economic buildings of the Middle Ages.

The Teutonic Knights erected the brick building after they excavated the Radaune Canal, whose water powered the mill's initial 12, and later 18, waterwheels. The mill operated until 1945, when it was destroyed during the war. The remaining structure now houses several shops, and some of the large waterwheels can still be seen.
