At the end of the forest road, which leads from Maiern through the Lazzacher valley, are opposite the Moarer alpine hut at sea level 2.112 the remains of the Poschhauses. For centuries, there was a house with attached stable and ore box in which the Samer deposited the ores after the laborious transport over Schneebergscharte or Sandjoch and found accommodation and food for themselves and the horses. The original name is therefore "box inn".
With the construction of the ore overground conveyor system on rails from 1871, the ore box was superfluous and the building fell into disrepair.
In 1911 the ministerial council left in the k.k. Ministry of Public Works in Vienna, ANTON, EDLER VON POSCH, to rebuild the entire building. Since then it bears the name "Poschhaus". However, locals still predominantly hear the name "Beim Kasten". (...)
