    Bring wellies ! The river was escaping onto parts of the "road", in parts the water level was well above my bottom bracket. I could mostly escape wading by escaping to the grassy tussocks into which the road is sunken, you can push the bike easily enough on these - although it has been very dry lately, I can imagine this would be a swamp in wetter times.
