The story of heroic air heroes over Flemish Fields…

A unique museum on the Western Front that focuses on aerial warfare during WW1. Owners are very hospitable.

Lots of explanation about the role, evolution and importance of the aircraft during the war years. Obviously a lot of attention for Georges Guynemer. A French legendary aviation hero who disappears on September 11, 1917 above Poelkapelle. By the age of 22 he had achieved 53 recognized aerial victories and was nicknamed “ace”. Other aviation heroes of the Entente and the Allies, such as the Red Baron, Jan Olieslagers, etc… are also discussed.

Exhibition spaces are located over 3 floors. You start in the basement room where you get an introduction to the general aviation history. Then you can watch an introductory film about the evolution of the aviation war.

On the hero wall of aviation pilots you can hear the life stories of many air heroes above the Western Front via audio.

On the top floor you can admire the replica of Guynemer's plane. The SPAD XIII adorns the entire top space. With a little imagination, after your visit to this museum, you can see the heroic air heroes fighting duels over the Flemish fields…
