A self-sufficient house is floating in the harbor area of Lake Bergheide in front of the silhouette of the conveyor bridge F60, which will serve as a research demonstrator for the next few years. Together with project partners, the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems has built a prototype of a house that is intended to show how self-sufficient living on the water can work.
Its shape arises from the interlocking of three precisely positioned cubes. Heat is generated on the "Thermocube" and electricity on the "Powercube". And the "Aquacube" with its terraces on two levels creates a direct connection to the water. Inside, electricity and heat are stored and used water is purified, all controlled by intelligent building automation. In order to gain maximum usable space, the storage tanks are integrated into the steps and walls made of carbon concrete. Source: ak-brandenburg.de/content/30-schwimmendes-haus-autartec%C2%AE
