The church square in Delbrück is really very picturesque with the old houses, the church ⛪ with the beautiful round arches and the shops. A shady place with a lot of charm.

Small town of Delbrück, lots of half-timbered houses and a beautiful church.

History of the church squareDocuments and records from the community give reason to believe that the oldest defensive structure here was a "round village". The church was built in the middle of it. The defensive character of the church square is also documented by the court square "in front of the hawthorn". Thorny hawthorn hedges therefore protected the Delbrück church fortress. The houses that still surround it today are possibly the successors to the storage buildings that were embedded in a small space all around. The only and first school in the Delbrück region was also located here around 1660. The second oldest house from 1678 in Delbrück-Mitte is also located on the church square. The builder of the architecturally noteworthy rectory was the well-known Baroque master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun from Westphalia. It was built in 1716 a little outside the church ring and is still one of the most beautiful buildings today.
