Collignon beach is a beach in France overlooking the Manche located in the city of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, more precisely in the delegated municipality of Tourlaville in the department of Manche and in the Normandy region. It owes its name to the entrepreneur A. Collignon who, from 1889 to 1895, directed the construction work on the eastern seawall, partially closing the harbor of Cherbourg.
It was on this beach that the first official trotting races in France took place on September 25 and 26, 1836, at the initiative of Éphrem Houël, then director of the Saint-Lô stud farm.
