The Grosse Koser springs south of Hohenberg and the Kleine Koser below the Marktleugaster hamlet Ösel. In the Kupferberger hamlet Old Schmölz, the two streams to Koserbach unite. Up to this junction, the Große Koser has a length of 9.9 kilometers and the Kleine Koser a length of 3.5 kilometers. From there, the Koser flows to Wirsberg, where it flows into the Schorgast.

Here you wander through a natural Bachtal. The path always meanders along the shore and through a sparse forest.

At this point you stand on an old dump of an ore smelter. On the surface, what looks like coarse gravel turns out to be slag. However, nothing of the associated ore smelt can be seen today.
