In 1997, the city of Jever had a replica of the Wüppgalgen built next to the bridge over the Blankgraft. The gallows are intended to be a reminder of the medieval court system. Here, minor offenses were punished by immersing the accused in the Graft and thus exposing them to the fun and ridicule of the population.
