The historicist three-aisled brick hall church of St. Elisabeth was built between 1908 and 1910 and consecrated on December 18, 1910 under the patronage of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia by Dean Martin Köllen. The architecture of the church combines late Gothic and Romanesque architectural forms. The interior was decorated with thematic colored glass, side altars and figures of saints. The church only received the spire, the organ and a tower clock (no longer there) after the consecration in the period before the Second World War.
