The village church in Hohen Viecheln is a listed brick church from the early Gothic period. This three-aisled church is an imposing structure for the rural area here. A church tower was never built here for financial reasons.According to a legend, this church is one of the seven Pless churches that the knight Helmold von Plesse had promised his wife if he should return unscathed from the crusade. A wooden sculpture of the knight is in the church. After the grave figure of Queen Margarete in the Doberaner Munster, it is the second oldest secular wooden sculpture in Mecklenburg.
