The old Meyer distillery in Hille is a unique industrial monument. The striking building (from 1890) with the high chimney (on which storks have regularly nested for years) has long since become Hille's landmark. Founded in 1721 by Christian Meyer as an agricultural grain distillery, it expanded into an industrial company at the end of the 19th century. Korn and other spirits were produced here for almost 270 years until 1990, the best known being "Hiller Bastkorn" and "Hiller Moorbrand". After the decommissioning, the building, including the production facilities, was placed under monument protection and came under the care of the fruit and horticultural association, today the Hille homeland and horticultural association.
