The story of the girl with long hair who was locked in a tower by a wicked witch is probably known to every child. Especially because Disney, like many others, imprinted this fairy tale on people's minds through an animated film. But the story was not only known in Germany during the Grimms' lifetime. The oldest recorded story of a young woman letting her lover use her hair as a ladder goes back to Persian mythology. The treasury of legends from ancient Greece also takes up the story again in "Danaë". And last but not least, the saga appears again in the Christian legend of St. Barbara. In addition to the didactic, pedagogical character of folk tales, these are now even analyzed from a psychological point of view. But fairy tales were and always will be an important aspect of early and present childhood. They are exciting, a bit scary and in today's versions always have a happy ending. And every child's heart beats a little faster with this sentence: "Once upon a time..."
