The Siemsen storage facility and the round silo are located at the Eckernförde port. Due to their size, they are the two most conspicuous buildings in the port area. The yellow or red-brown bricks of the Siemsen storage facility and the round silo give these buildings a certain appearance. This alone makes the buildings look historic. The location directly at the Eckernförde harbor makes it so unique. From the Borby side you have a good view of both buildings.
The Siemsen warehouse takes its name from the former owner of the building, the Siemsen family. Here in the port area (Langebrückstraße 34) there used to be the Siemsen building materials and hardware store. Since the hardware store moved to Noorstraße after about 80 years as Hagebaumarkt, the port area in this area was redesigned. The historic warehouse has been preserved and has even been extensively renovated. it is under monument protection. Today there are offices in the Siemsen warehouse. The Siemsen warehouse, which can be seen from afar, towers over the buildings in Eckernförde's inner harbor and characterizes its image in a special way. It was built in 1879 as a five-story cube made of yellow brick with an attic and a flat roof. The façade is structured by pilaster strips and bands dividing floors.
