It was 1986 when the city of Esens acquired this beautiful gallery Dutchman in a rather ruined condition and restored it. In the first year of the 18th century there was a post mill for the production of pearl barley, as the name "Peldemühle" already explains. But it only took 21 years before it burned down in 1722, after which a one-story Galleriehollander was built. Today's Peldemühle was built over a hundred years later, namely in 1850.
Since the restoration the Heimatverein Esens e.V. has been running the Peldemühle and its outbuildings as a museum under the name "Leben am Meer - a mill full of stories". The main focus of the museum is logically the settlement history of the Harlingerland, as well as that of the city of Esens

The Peldemühle Esens is a two-story gallery Dutch windmill. Among other things, she used pellets to peel (= peel) barley into pearl barley, hence the name Peldemühle

The Peldemühle Esens is a Peldemühle in the East Frisian town of Esens. It is located in the north of the city on the road to Bensersiel. The Heimatverein Esens uses the mill since 1989 as a museum. Wikipedia
