The "new" lighthouse of Ancona is located on the Capuchin hill, inside the Cardeto Park. Its construction was authorized in 1965, about 200 m south-east of the old one. It came into operation in 1972 and is still in use today. It also uses Fresnel lenses, but its signal has been changed: in a cycle of thirty seconds it emits four flashes followed by a period of darkness of fourteen seconds. It has a height of 15 m and the shape of a square tower with the vertices directed towards the four cardinal points.
