The National Park Center provides information on the National Park and the Northern Black Forest on two floors. In any case, very good as a contact and information point. There are also many info fliers to take away. There are a number of hiking trails around the Ruhestein and even in winter there is an opportunity to see a couple of jumps on the ski jump opposite.

This is a highlight and a reminder at the same time, because the clear prohibition signs and trees on the lakeside, which obstruct former ways to give nature the opportunity to recover.
In the national park hiking and mountain biking on many well-marked trails is allowed and not there anymore. Would be wonderful if everyone stick to it.
It's nice to see how nature recovers the formerly wide paths that will no longer be recognizable as such.

On the Ruhestein, a 915-meter-high pass in the Northern Black Forest, you will find the Ruhestein ski jump and the ski slope as well as the nature reserve of the Northern Black Forest National Park. The Ruhestein is located directly on the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse but can also be reached from the Achern or the Mughal. The border between the Kingdom of Württemberg and the Duchy of Baden used to be here. The Ruhestein originally served as a "resting place" for everyone who wanted to go to the nearest valley. Today it is one of the centers when it comes to local recreation in the Northern Black Forest. from here there are many ways to interesting places like the bog or the wild lake. In addition, the place is located directly on the Westwegroute.
