The evangelical Heilbronn Nikolaikirche was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century. In the years 1340 to 1350 there was a small predecessor building here as a chapel.
The church was used, among other things, as an armory, military hospital or gymnasium.
When the city was destroyed in World War II in 1944, it burned down completely, but it was rebuilt in 1950/51.

Hiking

The Nikolaikirche in Heilbronn is a 14th-century Gothic-style church with a polygonal chancel. The building on Sülmerstrasse has served as a municipal armory, French military hospital, Württemberg arsenal and gymnasium throughout its checkered history. The building, which has been used as a church since 1851, burned down completely in 1944, but was restored after the end of the war. Today it is the church of the Nikolai parish (2,500 members), which encompasses the northern part of Heilbronn's inner city.
