The mill on the Großefehn canal in WestGroßefehn fell victim to the flames several times. The two-story gallery Dutchman with a compass rose was built in 1773, burned down after being struck by lightning in 1882 and was struck again by lightning in 1886. Today's mill has been in its place since 1889 and has been owned by the Onken family since 1892. Until 1945, their products were loaded onto ships that docked in the canal in front of the mill. From 1990 to 1993 the mill was completely renovated externally. However, the old grinder was removed. Modern machines have taken its place. The mill building is now part of the Onken family's compound feed plant. (ostfriesland.travel/sightseeing/sightseeing/muehle-westgrossefehn-grossefehn)

Beautiful old mill on the road. Unfortunately it is very busy. On the opposite side you have a better (photo) view of the mill.
