The Tangerhütter Stadtpark was created in 1873 by the manufacturer Wagenführ. The result was an idyllic park with special features such as the lidded vase, the mausoleum and the artificial waterfall. Magnificent welcomes you from the New Castle. Agaventore southwest and southeast of the castle still emphasize the entrance and transition area between formal forecourt and landscaped park. A gem of the complex is the art-cast pavilion, which was awarded a gold medal at the Paris World's Fair in 1889.The development of the city park Tangerhütte is closely connected with the development of the ironworks, which founded in 1842 the Magdeburg merchants Wagenführ and Helmecke and the entrepreneur Kayser in Vaethen. The great importance of the hut led in 1928 to the renaming of the place Vaethen in Tangerhütte.

From 1873 Franz Wagenführ had a 12-hectare park in the mixed style of the Lenné-Meyer school at the gates of the ironworks create, in him the Old Castle as a family residence. The regular Parterreanlagen at the Old Castle is followed by a large landscaped area with swan pond, modeled lot with waterfall and mausoleum. The art gallery pavilion at the Schwanenteich, which was built in 1888 in the Tangerhütte for the Paris World Fair, then found its place in the park.
