I got over the stepping stones carrying a bicycle with no problems. Yes, the path had a ‘slightly’ muddy section but we’d had a lot of rain. Yes, the vegetation is growing well but if we deter people and they don’t use the route it’ll grow even more and become impassable.
But it’s not ‘impossible’ IF the river’s low enough.

The track down is gravel with loose stones, it does end in a muddy puddle. You need to carry your bike over the stepping stones. Don’t attempt it if the river is high.

You will probably need to get out of the saddle but it's certainly not impossible!

Yes, you shouldn't try to ride over here as it's a walking crossing but you if you can carry your bike ok then you should be able to step over quite easily.

I recommend you don't do this. its impossible. stepping stones over river. then path overgrown and uncyclable. Steep gradients down to river that are impossible to bike. Komoot suggested this and its on a Sustrans route. Misleading and dangerous.

Its not a good idea to even attempt this. It is only passable if you have a very lightweight bike. Anyone with an e-bike or heavily loaded will struggle despite what is said in the comments below.
