  • Built in the early 14th century, Dunstanburgh castle is a towering ruin full of history. The castle was constructed by Thomas, the Earl of Lancaster and wealthiest man in England at the time who was later executed for participating in the barons' rebellion against Edward II.

    Since then, it was used as a Lancastrian stronghold during the Wars of the Roses and inspired artists such as JMW Turner.
