Pottergate Tower in Alnwick was formerly part of the town's medieval defences. The tower was rebuilt in 1768 to a design by Mr Henry Bell. It used to have a crown spire, which was removed in 1812. The tower is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England. The tower has been converted for use for tourist accommodation. co-curate.ncl.ac.uk/pottergate-tower
