From 1612, Elector Friedrich V built the last palace, the English building. The clear forms are based on the model of the Italian architect Andrea Palladio. The front of the English building faces the city.

Elector Frederick V built this palace for his then English bride Elizabeth Stuart from 1612 to 1614. From this palace, the regent's wife had a fantastic view of Heidelberg, the Neckar valley and the Rhine plain. You couldn't complain with a view like that.
Right next to it are the remains of the thick tower. This was built by the ancestor of
Elector Frederick V, namely Ludwig V. He wanted to demonstrate his power with the construction and had the tower built with 7m thick walls.
The tower had a 16-sided room in the base where parties were held and guests were invited with a fantastic view.

Elector Friedrich V married Princess Elizabeth Stuart, daughter of King James I of England, in 1613. He wanted to offer his demanding wife a magnificent, befitting residential palace in the Heidelberg Residence. The base of the English building is a trapezoid. Today only the window fronts are left. The roof was lost as a result of the destruction in the Palatinate War of Succession between 1688 and 1697 and the castle fires in 1764. There are still a few remnants of the stucco decoration in the window jambs in the ruin.
