Descending from Heidelberg Castle to the Old Town, you pass the Kornmarkt, the former Electoral Pharmacy, and the Ritter House, and reach the Church of the Holy Spirit. This was the burial place of the princes. From there, the banks of the Neckar and the old bridge with the bridge gate are just a few minutes away. If you have time, cross the Neckar and climb up the Philosopher's Walk on the other side, from which you have a magnificent view of the castle, the Neckar, and the Old Town.

Hiking

The old town is the heart and the historical center of Heidelberg. First mentioned in a document in 1196, it is world-famous for its unique triad of city, mountains and river.
The old town covers around 1,380 hectares, of which only 9.8 percent are built on. The district is characterized by the forest area of the Königstuhl, which at 564 meters is one of the highest mountains in the Odenwald.
